Today I am sharing about two new pieces in one blog post. As with the rest of the pieces in the series, they will be live on the website for purchase on August 15!
In creating this new series, I wanted to focus on two main things: simple and natural. I have mostly done quotes on my hand lettered pieces. This time I wanted to go in the direction of using less words but choosing ones that had meaning and power.
A few months ago on my Instagram account, I asked many of you for your suggestions for simple 1-3 word phrases/quotes that encourage, give hope and inspire. There were lots of great suggestions and I loved choosing from words that had meaning to others as well as myself.
WONDER
Wonder: a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable.
I feel that these lyrics from Bethel music help explain why I chose this one:

In our daily struggles and tasks it is easy get lost in the mundane and lose sight of the beauty around us. This is my attempt to encourage and remind us to not lose our wonder.

GATHER
Gather: come together; assemble or accumulate.
In our independent and individualistic culture we can lose sight of the importance of community and what we have to give to and gain from others. This sign is a reminder to gather with others. Have people over for dinner. Go to that event and meet someone new. Community is not always easy but it is good!
I chose to do different colors and types of fern leaves to represent gathering not just with those who look and act just like you, but also with others who bring diversity and new perspectives on life.
